We are looking for singers 6-14 year old to make our house sing! We have choirs for two age groups; The 6 - 9 year old choir meets at 6:00 pm and the 10 - 14 year old choir meets at 7:00 pm on Tuesdays. Starting in Winter 2018, there will be quarterly fee for the choir. The fee is an affordable $25 for Callanwolde members/$50 for non-members.
Your student will learn proper singing techniques while having fun and making friends! Vicki Poppell, our Choir Director, has extensive experience in choral conducting. As part of the Callanwolde Choir, your child will perform before crowds at Callanwolde's Rick Baker School of Music recitals, Atlanta area Arts Festivals, and at Callanwolde's highly popular community events (such as Halloween and Christmas at Callanwolde). The Choir has even performed the National Anthem at a Braves game! .
Callanwolde was built in 1920 by Charles Howard Candler, eldest son of The Coca-Cola Company founder Asa Griggs Candler. The estate is located in the Druid Hills neighborhood of Atlanta and is on the National Register of Historic Places. The 12 acre estate contains a magnificent Tudor Revival style mansion, lush gardens, and several outer buildings.
Today, Callanwolde is owned by Dekalb County and is the home of Callanwolde Fine Arts Center. Callanwolde Fine Arts Center is a cultural community conservatory of the arts on a 12 acre campus. Callanwolde offers classes in the performing arts (music, music recording, dance, dance fitness), visual arts (painting/drawing, pottery, weaving/textiles, jewelry/metalsmithing, photography), writing, yoga, horticulture, culinary arts and more to students of all ages.
