Dates: February 25, 2017
Meets: 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM
We are thrilled to have Atlanta-based Traci Hale here this winter to share her amazing knowledge! Traci Hale began her career as a backing singer for R&B stars Keith Sweat and Aaliyah. It was while on tour with Aaliyah in 1996 that she shared songs that she had been writing privately, and soon thereafter began collaborating with others, including Rodney Jerkins - the two of them worked on the Dr. Dolittle (soundtrack) and Brandy’s breakthrough album Never Say Never. Traci went on to write hits for Mýa, Britney Spears and others. In 2010 Hale co-wrote the song “What’s My Name?” with Ester Dean and Stargate, which became a number one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 for Rihanna. The Formula of a Hit Workshop focuses on Songwriting and Dissecting the way hit songs are arranged. It will discuss the anatomy of a song, picking the right melodies, studio etiquette, rewrites, split sheets, and choosing a PRO (Performing Rights Organization). Students are asked to bring their laptops and own personal Wi-Fi hotspots and a sack lunch.
